Furnace repair · same-day diagnostics in winter

Furnace repair in College Station and the Brazos Valley.

Texas winters are mild but the January cold fronts are no joke — and that's exactly when furnaces fail. We diagnose no-heat calls fast, quote the repair in writing, and have most homes warm again the same visit. Same $95 diagnostic, same workmanship guarantee, same crew you'd call in summer.

What's typical

Furnace Repair — scope & pricing.

Six common variants of furnace repair we see most often in the Brazos Valley, with indicative ranges.

Flame sensor cleaning or replacement

$200 – $300

Top cause of no-heat calls. Often just cleaning, sometimes replacement.

Ignitor (hot-surface) replacement

$250 – $450

Common 5–10 year failure. Quick swap.

Thermocouple / pilot assembly

$200 – $400

Older gas furnaces. We test the thermocouple before condemning the assembly.

Control board replacement

$400 – $700

Less frequent but real failures. We verify it's the board and not a sensor first.

Blower motor & capacitor

$400 – $700

Same parts family as AC blower. Common cause of short-cycling on heating.

Gas valve replacement

$500 – $800

Safety-critical. Replaced when testing confirms a valve failure rather than a control issue.

When to call

Common reasons homeowners call us about furnace repair.

  • Furnace won't ignite at all — usually ignitor or flame sensor
  • Lights briefly then shuts off — flame sensor or gas pressure
  • Short cycling — thermostat, sensor, or oversizing
  • Cool air from the vents during heat call — blower or limit switch
  • Rumbling, banging, or screeching — motor distress or delayed ignition
  • Furnace runs but no warm air — heat exchanger, blower, or ductwork

Questions

About furnace repair.

Typical furnace repairs land between $200 and $700. Flame sensor cleaning is the cheapest common fix; control board replacements are the higher end. The $95 diagnostic is credited toward the repair if you proceed.
It depends on the noise. Rumbling can indicate delayed ignition (a safety issue). Screeching usually means motor distress. Banging on startup may be ductwork expansion (normal) or a delayed ignition event (not normal). If you're unsure, turn it off and call us — we'll tell you over the phone whether it's safe to keep running.
Yes — we work on furnaces of any age. That said, for systems older than 20 years where the heat exchanger is the failure, repair often doesn't make economic sense. We'll give you both numbers and let you decide.
Yes — on every gas furnace service call. CO testing is a non-negotiable safety step on our checklist. If we find unsafe CO levels, we'll tell you immediately and explain the source.
